Head over to Year 4's Activities page to play some games Mrs Warner has added.
There are some new ones about making safer choices when on line.

Year 6 PE - Autumn term 1
This half term we have been creating our own circuit training programmes in order to keep us fit for life. There's a world of difference between what children 'do' at school and what they actually 'learn' and, to be honest, anyone can follow a set of instructions. But what happens when it's the students themselves who are creating the activities?
We decided to split the body into three sections; lower body (legs), core (bottom, hips, stomach and lower back) and upper body (chest, arms, neck, shoulders) and then we set about devising a set of warm up movements followed by a circuit training routine. Here's what we came up with...

Building core strength by thrashing our abs - this is also key to developing our balance. |
There has been a great deal of effort put into this topic, but what have we actually learned from it? Here are the skills we have put into practice throughout this half term...
· Explore, improvise and combine movement ideas fluently and effectively.
· Organise their own warm-up and cool-down activities.
· Show an understanding of why it is important to warm up and cool down.
· Know why warming up and cooling down are important.
· Develop consistency in their skills.
· Decide what approach to use to meet the challenge set.
· Choose and apply skills more consistently in all activities.
· Know and understand the basic principles of warming up, and understand why it is important for a good-quality performance.
· Understand why exercise is good for their fitness, health and wellbeing.
· Understand the need to prepare properly for games.
· Choose and use information to evaluate their own and others’ work.
· Suggest improvements in own and others’ performances and develop our work in order to improve it.

Creative Curriculum topic - The Romans
This year we have decided not to have DT books, art books and geography books in Year 6. Instead we have creative curriculum books and we learn all of our foundation subjects together under one roof, so to speak. The Romans topic will be split into 4 different mini-challenges and we will be adding photos when they are ready in order to demonstrate our learning. Enjoy...
Year 6 Robinwood Residential 2012
On September 28th Year 6 embarked on their annual residential to Robinwood Activity Centre in Alston, Cumbria. We managed to drag along Mrs Quinn and Mrs Pound and were unfortunately joined by the Fish Finger Monster, the Arctic Monster and Randall the shark as well. Here's how we did...

Lucy's Enterprise Blog Update
Enterprise Blog Update
As you may have read in our last post, we have been doing our enterprise and so far we have raised over our target of £250. We raised £330 profit by doing our Enterprises every break time for two and a half weeks.
Our most successful Enterprises were ice lollies and ice creams. Overall we did really well in our enterprises. We knew that we had raised lots of money by our class teacher Mr. Lee telling us how much money we raised at the end of each day.
We are now looking forward to our Year 6 Big Day Out when we are going to the Merrion Centre for bowling and going to the Red Hot Buffet for a meal! If we need any extra drinks we will have the money to buy some more.
Thank you for all of your help - we couldn't have done it without everyone who bought something from our Enterprises!

Enterprise Blog
Welcome to Harry and Lucy’s enterprise blog update.
At the moment we are raising money for our trip to the Merion Centre and Red Hot Buffet.
The first thing we did was do a mind map to narrow down our ideas and pick the best couple. Secondly, we picked our teams and began making a business plan. Next, we did a 'Dragon's Den' style presentation to show Mrs. Gray. Finally, we started doing our business and it is going really well. More and more children are bringing money to our stalls each day.
So far we have raised over £100 and we are hoping to achieve our £250 target.
Thank you for supporting our enterprises! From Harry and Lucy

Miss Wadsworth's Final Day and Musical Maths!
We have had a very busy few weeks in Year 6 with Miss Wadsworth's leaving party, the Diamond Jubilee and launching our Enterprise schemes but we managed to find just enough time to learn how Musical Maths works and make some games to help other people to learn it too!
Here are some photos - enjoy.
